semi-annual update
Hello all! Every once in awhile I remember that I have this page and decide to update it. Here's what's new, since we last spoke --
1) I've decided I'm not going to stick with my career for the rest of my life. What can I say -- I have ADHD, and I feel I can't spend the next 26 years of my career being underutilized. I took my GMATs in January (successfully, thank goodness). I'm applying to grad schools now, and hopefully I'll begin a Masters of Finance program in the fall. Then I'm going to go work for an investment bank or something, which was really my original intention when I went to undergrad.
2) Steve and I are finally going to renovate our kitchen. It'll just be nice to have cabinets that don't look like I put them together myself from cardboard and hot glue.
3) I've had a sort of mini-reunion with a lot of my cousins and, I've got to say, it's shocking how similar we are. We hadn't seen each other for over 10 years and yet we share a lot of traits. So much for nature vs. nuture.
4) I'm running a marathon in Nashville in April. I am super-excited -- I've never been to Tennessee! I should probably get in touch with Audra while I'm there. Audra -- you reading this? We should do lunch! You can meet Steve and we can do about 12 years of catching up. Anyway, this race will make it 4 states and 5 marathons total. Only 46 more to go. At this rate, I'll finish when I'm 85.
5) We got the most awesome TV ever. It's about the size of one of our living room walls, although our living room is pretty small, so that's not saying much. It makes me sit slack-jawed and drooling.
6) University of Maryland basketball still frustrates me to no end. Beat number 1 Carolina, then lay several eggs at the end of the season. Sigh.
7) I'm trying to revamp my resume, and it's not fun. I've basically forgotten how to do a proper resume (we have internal resumes at work that are completely different from real-world resumes). How do you write a proper resume for the corporate world that says "I can't tell you anything about my old job, but, damn, I was good at it?" Yeah, I give up.
8) If one more person dings one of my doors in a parking lot, I'm going to go postal.
9) One of my best friends is getting married in March and I get to dress up and participate. Congratulations, Kate!
As usual, it's time for me to stop procrastinating and go to work. Happy February, everyone!
